Learning Content
Fermented lingonberry juice (FLJ, Lingora®) was developed as a natural addition for oral home care for patients with dry mouth symptoms and related diseases, such as candidiasis, dental caries and periodontal disease. With a patented method the naturally occuring sugars in lingonberry juice are reduced by fermentation to a safe level for oral use.
- Understanding the mechanisms of how fermented lingonberry juice phenolics act in the oral environment.
- Understanding the molecular composition of the unique set of phenolic substances in lingonberries.
- To be able to identify the patient group which would benefit the most from the use of FLJ.
Aims
- Lingonberries contain phenolic compounds which have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. These are important for maintaining better oral health in a natural way, compared to chlorhexidine for example.
- More knowledge and emphasis on natural oral health products through continuous clinical studies. Better oral health and better for the environment.
