Management and business spotlight

Management and business spotlight

Among the many enlightening sessions available at Dentistry Show London will be an entire conference stream dedicated to practice owners, managers and business development professionals. This collection of lectures has been designed to tackle some of the important issues facing the business of dentistry today, including everything from management of dental complaints to practice sales, new technology, combatting confrontation, maximising the value of your practice and optimising practice management software.

For those in management positions within the practice, it is important to guide the team through all of these areas and more. To do so effectively, excellent leadership skills are hugely beneficial. This is essential for ensuring compliance across the business with the various rules and regulations, as well as maintaining a motivated and happy team. Both are vital for a successful practice, especially at a time when the team has faced increased pressures on their day-to-day work. In addition, only with consistent and high-quality leadership can a practice deliver the highest standard of care to all its patients, now and in the future.

Simon Gambold, a dental leadership coach for practice owners and managers, will be discussing this in detail during a session entitled “Leadership in practice” at this year’s Dentistry Show London in the Practice Owners & Business management Theatre.

He gives us an insight into what we can expect from his session:

“My key focus for my session is leadership skills and why they are important. I will look at how they can dramatically improve practice performance and patient experience, as well as how they can create a happier workplace. This is really important for delegates at the moment because we are facing economic and other post-COVID challenges when recruiting and retaining team members. Being aware of the key role our leadership plays in keeping engaged and motivated team members onboard is key.”

During his lecture, Simon will cover the HR process required to fully engage the team – who are the most important stakeholder in the business. He will explore the evidence available to date and provide some simple solutions that practice owners and managers can implement to improve their daily working lives. Reflecting on what he hopes delegates will take away, he adds:

“I hope that delegates will be able to overcome the challenges associated with HR issues. These can distract them from their patients and cause unnecessary stress. I also hope that they will gain a greater awareness of the role they play in driving the culture of the practice. They can dramatically improve the team’s performance by developing their leadership skills. I hope my session provides them with some simple steps they can take to improve things.

“Dentistry Show London is a great opportunity to network, learn and find out the latest thinking from the industry. It’s one of the key highlights of the year!”

Other speakers in the Practice Owners & Business Management Theatre presenting alongside Simon will be India Beason, Adam Smith, Suki Singh, Luke Moore, Lisa Bainham, Bill Carr and several more well-respected individuals.
