Paul holds an honorary Chair at UCLan and post at UCL. He is the Chief Assessor for Intercollegiate Faculty Specialist Examination in Dental Public Health and acts as examiner for the ORE. A past President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry, he acted as Vice Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice twice. He has sat on NICE Committees and acted as Advisor Health Select Committee on the last but one dental inquiry. He also works for a number of international and national agencies and is a member of the European Health Policy Group.
