In dentistry, it's easy to underestimate the influence we have—not only on our patients, but on our own careers, teams and communities. Yet meaningful change often begins with a single action and the belief that something better is possible.
Drawing on the idea that hope and action exist in a continuous cycle—hope inspires us to take the first step, while action builds confidence, momentum and new opportunities—this uplifting and practical session explores how small actions can create lasting change. 🤸♂️
Through her personal journey, from dental nurse and mum taking her through Raisin Awareness primary school snack campaign to founder of Awesome Oral Health social enterprise ( reaching 21k children so far this year), Jo Dawson shares how one simple idea grew into a movement for positive change. Along the way, delegates will discover practical lessons in resilience, leadership, behaviour change and recognising opportunities that may be hiding in plain sight.
The session will also explore how the same principles can be applied in everyday practice. By using positive communication and behaviour-change techniques, dental professionals can help patients overcome barriers, develop healthier habits and achieve better oral health outcomes.
Whether you're a dental nurse, hygienist, therapist, dentist, practice manager or business leader, this session will encourage you to recognise the influence you already have, take action with greater confidence and build healthier smiles, stronger careers and better futures for yourself, your patients and your communities.
