At UCL Eastman, we offer three
types of research degree in dentistry: a professional doctorate (DDent) award,
a three-year MPhil/PhD, and a four-year clinical experience PhD.
DDent Paediatric Dentistry: This
course includes taught components and (where applicable) practical assignments,
plus a research thesis. You also undertake a certain number of clinical
sessions. You must have an approved dental qualification plus 2+ years
of clinical experience post-qualification.
MPhil/PhD Eastman Dental
Institute: A 3-year full time or 5-year part time programme to conduct a
research project under the expert guidance of a primary supervisor from our
research departments. Research may be laboratory or clinically relevant,
depending on the needs of the research project.
MPhil/PhD Clinical Experience: A
4-year course which offers the opportunity to work on a science or clinically
relevant project under expert supervision. You will be linked with a
clinical unit depending on your trained specialisation. You may also sustain
limited clinical activity depending on the demands of the hosting division.
