Dentistry Show London has once again partnered with the International Digital Dental Academy (IDDA) to bring delegates at this year’s show the Digital Dentistry Theatre. With a comprehensive conference programme curated by IDDA President Professor Adam Nulty, this year’s Digital Dentistry Theatre features lectures from some of digital dentistry’s leading figures who will explore the latest innovative technologies transforming patient care and enhancing clinical and aesthetic outcomes in dentistry.
We sat down with Adam to discuss his vision for the Digital Dentistry Theatre, his expectations for this year’s Dentistry Show London, and his wider thoughts on the future of digital dentistry. Read what he had to say below:
You have created the programme for the Digital Dentistry Theatre at Dentistry Show London this year. Can you tell us a bit about what you set out to achieve when you started to put the programme together?
When developing the programme for the Digital Dentistry Theatre at the Dentistry Show London, our primary objective was to create a comprehensive and dynamic line-up that would cater to the diverse needs of dental professionals attending the event. We aimed to achieve the following goals:
1. Education and Knowledge Sharing:
Our foremost priority was to provide attendees with high-quality educational content. We sought to cover a broad range of digital dentistry topics, including emerging technologies, clinical applications, workflow optimization, and advancements in diagnostics and treatment planning. By offering a diverse array of sessions, we aimed to cater to the varying interests and expertise levels of dental professionals.
2. Current and Future Trends:
We wanted to ensure that the programme not only addressed the current needs of the profession but also offered insights into future trends and developments in digital dentistry. We carefully curated sessions that touched upon topics such as artificial intelligence in dentistry, digital smile design, virtual reality applications, and the integration of digital technology with other dental specialties. Our aim was to provide attendees with a glimpse into the future of digital dentistry and inspire them to embrace innovation.
3. Practical Implementations:
While it is essential to explore the theoretical aspects of digital dentistry, we recognised the importance of practical implementation in real-world dental practices. Therefore, we made a concerted effort to include sessions that showcased real-life experiences and case studies from dental professionals who have successfully incorporated digital dentistry into their workflows. These sessions aim to provide practical insights, tips, and best practices that attendees can apply in their own practices.
4. Engagement and Interaction:
We wanted to create an engaging and interactive learning environment for attendees. To achieve this, we incorporated various formats into the programme, including lectures, panel discussions, live demonstrations, and Q&A sessions. We encourage audience participation and interaction with the speakers to foster a collaborative learning experience. By facilitating meaningful discussions and opportunities for networking, we aim to create a vibrant community of dental professionals passionate about digital dentistry.
By aligning the programme with these objectives, we sought to provide attendees with a rich educational experience that will empower them to embrace digital dentistry, enhance their skills, and stay at the forefront of their profession.
If you had to choose, what would you say are your session highlights in the Digital Dentistry Theatre this year?
It's difficult to choose just a few highlights from the exceptional line-up we have at the Digital Dentistry Theatre this year, but if I had to narrow it down, here are some sessions I believe will be particularly engaging and insightful for attendees: ‘A Dental Lab Perspective Regarding Bases on Implant Abutments’ by Magdalena Frackiewicz, ‘Digital Smile Design Innovations & Workflows’ by Quintus Van Tonder, ‘Facially Driven Smile Concepts in Implantology’ by Chris Lefkaditis, ‘Restoratively Driven Implantology’ by Patrik Zachrisson and ‘Occlusion Evolution’ by Riaz Yar.
These are just a few session highlights among many other exciting presentations taking place in the Digital Dentistry Theatre. The diverse range of topics covered throughout the programme ensures that attendees will find sessions relevant to their interests and professional needs. I'm confident that these sessions will provide valuable knowledge, practical tips, and inspiration for all attendees.
You’ll also be speaking at this year’s Dentistry Show London about the influence of digital dentistry on daily practice. What key trends in digital dentistry are you seeing at the moment, and what impact are these having on daily practice?
I'm honoured to be speaking at this year's Dentistry Show London about the influence of digital dentistry on daily practice. Digital dentistry is a rapidly evolving field, and several key trends are currently shaping the landscape and impacting dental treatment. Overall, these trends in digital dentistry are revolutionising dental treatment by improving accuracy, efficiency, and patient experience. They are streamlining workflows, reducing chair time, and enabling more predictable outcomes. Digital technologies are enhancing treatment planning, diagnostics, and communication with patients, leading to better treatment acceptance and improved patient satisfaction.
What do you want delegates to take away from your speaking session?
I will be revealing the latest ground-breaking trends and advancements revolutionising the dental field. From the seamless digital planning of complex cases to guided implant treatments, precise digital orthodontics, and the transformative potential of digital workflows in crown and bridge procedures, my aim will be to empower the audience with the knowledge and tools to propel their practice to new heights. This session will be a must-attend for forward-thinking dental professionals seeking to stay ahead of the curve.
Ultimately, my goal is for delegates to leave with a clear understanding of the benefits and potential of digital dentistry, practical strategies for implementation, and the motivation to embark on their digital dentistry journey. It's an exciting time to be part of the digital dentistry revolution, and I look forward to sharing more insights and discussing the impact of these trends at Dentistry Show London.
We have seen some rapid advancements in AI technology recently. What role do you see AI playing in the future of dentistry?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to play a significant role in the future of dentistry, revolutionising various aspects of patient care, diagnostics, treatment planning, and practice management.
It is important to note that while AI offers great potential in dentistry, it is not intended to replace the expertise and judgment of dental professionals. Instead, AI serves as a powerful tool to augment and support clinical decision-making, improve efficiency, and enhance patient care. As AI continues to advance, it is crucial for dental professionals to stay informed about the latest developments, embrace ongoing learning opportunities, and critically evaluate the implementation of AI technologies to ensure their safe and effective integration into dental practice.
Overall, AI holds immense promise in the future of dentistry, empowering dental professionals to deliver more accurate diagnoses, personalised treatment plans, and enhanced patient experiences.
