SBDN: Championing dental charities with pride
)
At the Society, we’re deeply committed to supporting dental-related charities, and this year has been no exception. Our team has gone above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others through remarkable fundraising efforts and unwavering advocacy.
Cheryl’s Epic Run for Young Tongues
This year, our amazing Cheryl Goodenough took on a staggering 100K run to support our Charity of the Year – Young Tongues. This vital community provides a safe space for young people affected by tongue cancer, offering connection, shared experiences, and reassurance that no one faces this journey alone. Cheryl, we are immensely proud of your courage and dedication!
Emma’s Marathon Mission for Mouth Cancer Awareness
Emma Riley, one of our passionate advocates for oral cancer support and education, completed yet another marathon – raising crucial funds for The Mouth Cancer Foundation. This charity plays a pivotal role in improving the lives of patients, carers, and survivors while driving awareness and education around head and neck cancers. Emma’s efforts help ensure earlier diagnoses and better outcomes. Incredible work, Emma!
Lisa’s Upcoming Climb for Bridge2Aid
In September, our Chair, Lisa Andrews Davies, will be taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales in support of Bridge2Aid. This transformative charity focuses on embedding oral health knowledge into communities. With programs currently active in Tanzania and Malawi, Bridge2Aid trains Oral Health Community Champions, empowering thousands of educators, and health workers to spread essential oral health messages.
In Malawi, they’ve also delivered region-wide training to Dental Therapists and Red Cross volunteers who are sharing these life-changing messages in their local areas. Lisa’s goal is to raise both funds and awareness for this impactful cause—and we’ll be cheering her on every step of the way!
