A voice assistant that knows your practice's compliance form library by heart, from a first-time exhibitor at stand H25. Try it before the show for a few pounds, then bring the form you dislike most to Excel.

Every dental practice runs on paperwork. Crown-consent forms, sedation risk assessments, daily cleaning logs, incident reports: each needs a signature, a date and an audit trail, and each is usually written up at the end of a session, or the end of a week, by someone whose hands were gloved when the answers were fresh. CQC inspectors notice.

teckel — Teckel Services Limited, an Isle of Man company — builds one product for dental practices: Benedict, a voice-driven compliance documentation assistant. The whole idea is a division of labour. You do the thinking; Benedict does the dog work.

Ask for a form by name, answer in your own words. Ask for the daily cleaning log and it opens on screen. Answer the questions as you would to a colleague, several in one breath if you like, change an answer at any point, and read the finished form before you say "submit". A person always checks the paperwork before it becomes the record. Benedict captures your answers exactly as you give them; the thinking, and the sign-off, stay with you.

Know where you stand. Say "show me my document directory" and the whole catalogue opens on screen, grouped by category, with a traffic-light tag on every form: red for overdue, with the date that was missed; yellow for never submitted; grey for no review schedule recorded yet. Grey is deliberately not green. Ask what is overdue and Benedict answers from the same records, including an honest count of the forms whose review schedules have not been set.

The guidance's own words. Ask what the official guidance says on a point and Benedict reads you the relevant passage word for word, names the document it came from, and offers to put it on screen or e-mail you the whole thing. He quotes; he does not interpret. On a compliance question a paraphrase is a liability; the source's exact words are what you can act on and cite.

Surveys, logs and evidence. Repetitive entries do not need voice at all. Ask once for a patient survey's or a log's web link and hand it to whoever has the answers; every entry lands in the same log. Inspection certificates, service records and photographs of equipment can be uploaded from whichever device actually holds them, and a document can stand as the answer to a question on a form.

Signed on screen. Forms that need signing can be signed on screen by each member of staff, with the date added automatically when each signature is saved. Staff can also sign to confirm they have read a policy.

Your practice, on your paperwork. Every finished form is rendered on your own letterhead, with your practice name, address, CQC and GDC registration numbers and your logo, and sent as a PDF with a unique content hash to whichever address you choose, so an inspector can be given a verifiable copy on demand. Benedict knows the CQC form library and supports your own custom forms on request.

What it costs. There is no subscription, no per-seat licence and no sign-up fee. You buy teckel credits (tc) as you go. In our August 2026 measurements a completed form cost between £1 and £6, with most around £2.50. A checklist that takes ten minutes on paper is done in about two and a half minutes.

Setting up takes about fifteen minutes, once. Install the teckel App on Android or iPhone, tap "Create Benedict", and your practice's own portal is built and its private address e-mailed to you.
