Joseph completed specialist orthodontic training at North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust and Newcastle University. His interest in the impact of e-cigarettes on orthodontics began after encountering a patient who vaped, prompting him to explore the potential effects on treatment outcomes. He has published a literature review on Orthodontics and E-Cigarettes in the Orthodontic Update and on staff education and awareness of vaping in the BOS Clinical Effectiveness Bulletin. He has also presented his findings at the British Orthodontic Conference, Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland Annual Scientific Meeting and the European Orthodontic Conference.
