Martin Thornhill

Professor Thornhill is a medically and dentally qualified Oral Medicine specialist and clinical researcher. He has worked in the US and UK and has been at the forefront of research into the link between the mouth and infective endocarditis. He has more than 200 publications in peer reviewed journals including the new England Journal of Medicine and the Lancet and is one of very few people to be awarded two distinguished scientist awards by the International Association for Dental Research – one for oral medicine and one for pharmacology and therapeutics. His research has influenced and changed endocarditis guidelines globally.
